So the Harvard Business Review tells us that “multitasking does not exist.” I dunno. It’s worked pretty well for me.

I would not be able to do everything I have to do without being in pretty good physical condition. I have not been able to run road races since 2003, but I can walk and do so regularly, anywhere from 4 to 12 miles. That’s a significant time commitment. For 20+ years, I’ve maximized the benefits of exercise by listening to audiobooks, and podcasts for both business and pleasure reasons.

Services like SpotifyApple Podcasts, and Amazon Music have thousands of choices. Here are my current favorites:

Business

Kennedy Mighell Report, Dennis Kennedy & Tom Mighell. My number one business pick.

Lunch Hour Marketing, Gyi Tsakalaskis & Conrad Saam. Irreverent entertainment and instruction.

Enjoyment

The Plot Thickens, from Turner Classic Movies, is a gift to hardcore movie fans. Their most recent series details the career of John Ford.

I Hear Fear is a six part horror story podcast from the great Carey Mulligan.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater was a nightly feature from 1974 through 1982. This is my most frequent choice. The 1399 episodes vary in quality, but the best are super entertaining. You can download them from the website, but I’ve found it more convenient to subscribe through the usual podcast finding sites.

Audiobooks for Business or Enjoyment

Years ago I bought audiobooks on CD. Audible.com is so much easier. Best Mystery Stories of the Year: 2021 is currently at the top of my audiobook playlist.
